Punjab Higher Education Department is facing the shortage of Lecturer BS-17 in the Boys as well as Girls Colleges throughout the province. In order to fill the vacant posts of Lecturer both male & female, Higher Education Department, Punjab has requested Punjab Public Service Commission, PPSC to start the process for recruiting Lecturer (Male 1206 & Female 1772) BS-17 in different subjects such as:-
Soon the advertisement will be advertised by PPSC and recruitment process shall be started. The prescribed qualification is M.A or M.Sc (2nd Division) from a recognized University in relevant subject. Age limit is 21-30 alongwith general age relaxation i.e 5 years for male candidates & 8 years for female candidates. There shall be Rs.600 required to be deposited in favour of PPSC as processing fees. All domiciled in Punjab are eligible to apply. After depositing the fee, a candidate may apply online as per his/ her qualification without waiting for last date of submission of online application.
One paper MCQs comprising of 100 marks shall be conducted by the PPSC. Usually the paper is based on 20 marks English and 80 marks of relevant subject. The posts of lecturer are advertised by the PPSC after 4-5 years gap and resultantly there is a very strong competition amongst the candidates. Therefore, a strong preparation is required.
Since, the introduction of online application system by PPSC, papers are held within 01 -02 months of advertisement in contrast to past where the exams were held after 5-6 months. So interested candidates should concentrate on preparation of their relevant subject without waiting further. There are number of books on all major subjects available in the market dealing with the one paper PPSC paper. However, only these books are not enough, one should consult his her course books and notes etc. Those who are actively teaching their respective subjects in Private Institutes or Academies will have better chance to qualify the written paper for job as Lecturer BS-17.
The appointments against the posts of Lecturer BS-17 are made on contract basis and upon completion of 4 years service, case becomes mature for regularization under Punjab Government Regularization Act, 2018. After regularization, a Lecturer has very good career prospects. He or She as the case may be, is eligible for further promotion as Assistant Professor BS-18 after 05 years service. Similarly an Assistant Professor BS-18 is eligible for promotion as Associate Professor after 12 years service in BS-17 & above. Further the promotion is subject to good result of the classes taught by Lecturer.
