Education is evolving day by day and the experts keep on introducing new techniques for assessment of students pursuing professional degrees and careers. Some tests are designed to judge, assess and calculate aptitude of students seeking admission in field of their choice whereas, other tests are introduced to ascertain and assess the suitability of candidates for a certain field and career. Most renowned of the assessment tests is the Graduate Record Examination commonly known as GRE. It was further extended as Graduate Assessment Test General and later as Graduate Assessment Test for subjects. In Pakistan, GRE and GAT were started by National Testing Service in the year 2002 onward for HEC & Universities / Colleges for students seeking higher studies.

Higher Education Commission (HEC) has taken on board the Education Testing Council (ETC) for conducting the Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT) for the students and candidates seeking admissions in MS/MPhil programmes which are funded by Higher Education Commission (HEC) through a uniform, accessible and transparent procedure. Higher Education Commission (HEC) has invited the interested candidates to get themselves registered online for the purpose. An advertisement has already appeared in the Newspaper. The test is for local as well as Foreign scholarships.

ELIGIBILITY

Followings are eligible to apply:-

  • Those who have already applied online for HEC Scholarships via E-portal.
  • Those who intend to apply for future advertised scholarship schemes and advertised by Universities.
  • Those who are interested for securing admission in MS/ Mphil programmes in public and private universities of Pakistan.

HOW TO REGISTER ONLINE

Visit the http://eportal.hec.gov.pk and follow the instructions therein. Deposit Rs. 500 online as processing fee in favour of Director General Finance, HEC through any bank in Account Number 1742-79001334-01 HBL.

DEADLINE FOR ONLINE REGISTRATION

The last date for online registration is 31st January, 2018.

TEST PATTERN

The HEC has categorized the Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT) in the followings and the division of fields for award of marks for each category is given as under:-

All the candidates should select the correct test and wrong selection may lead to cancellation of application. The minimum passing marks will be 50%. The test result shall remain valid for two years. Test date & time shall be announced separately. Only online registered candidates will be allowed to appear in the test.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR HEC APTITUDE TEST

GRE general books are more relative for preparation of the test. Practice quantitative reasoning test on mathematical based questions. Analytical reasoning may be practiced from previous years papers. Gather as much as data and practice it.
