Local Government & Community Development commonly known as LG&CD department is the largest department of the Government of the Punjab. It is the basic tool of the Government of the Punjab for rendering basic facilities and controlling the Local Governments. It is an old department and a very good place to build a career.
Punjab Public Service Commission has advertised 68 posts of Assistant Director BS-17 for appointment in the Local Government & Community Development, LG&CD Department, on contract basis for a period of 05 five years. The advertisement appeared on 09.09.2018.

The prescribed qualification for eligibility against the post of Assistant Director BS-17 is
“Master’s Degree (Second Division) in Sociology, Social Work, Public Administration, Economics, Psychology or LLB from a University recognized by the Higher Education Commission”.
The age limit is 21 to 28 plus 5 years for male. Male domiciled in Punjab are eligible to apply.
68 posts have been bifurcated as per quota and regions by the Local Government & Community Development Department.
03 post reserved for Minorities quota, 04 reserved for special persons & 14 posts for Special Zone.

PPSC prescribed test fee amounting to Rs.600 for the FOR SUBMISSION of application. The application will be submitted online after depositing the fee.

SYLLABUS FOR ONE PAPER MCQ 100 MARKS:-
100 MARKS MCQ of 90 minutes duration of the following syllabus will be held by PPSC:
“Pakistan Studies, Current Affairs, Islamic Studies (ethics for Non-Muslim candidates), Geography, Basic Mathematics, English, Urdu, Everyday Science and Basic Computer Studies”
Negative marking for one wrong answer is done (-0.25 mark) usually by PPSC.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE PAPER:-
PPSC usually takes test / paper within month or two after publishing the posts, so one should prepare himself/ herself without wasting any time.
Pakistan Studies, Current Affairs, Everyday Science, Geography, Basic Mathematics and Basic Computer Knowledge as MS Office, Browsing and e-mail.
The post of Assistant Director BS-17 is governed by the Punjab Local Government and Community Development Employees Service Rules, 2018. As per Service Rules, the Assistant Director is eligible for promotion as Deputy Director BS-18 after 5 years of service & training prescribed. Deputy Director BS-18 is eligible for promotion as Director BS-19 on completion of 12 years service in BS-17 & above. But first a successful candidate has to serve on contract basis and after regularization of his / her services, the promotion prospects will be applied. Regulations Wing, S&GAD has issued instructions wherein it has been prescribed to regularize the services after 04 years service.
